Wall Mounted Clay Sculpture "Through The Trees We Glimpsed Him"

Small and mighty, this forest pixie (faun? sprite?) peers out from a slab of wood. I tend to make androgynous faces, or maybe faces without clues like hair tend to look androgynous, but I think of this as a guy. A guy pixie.

Here's a little behind the scenes glimpse of me working: I made this face, and later I had a piece of wood, just this size. They were the same color! I had a bevel cut on the top and bottom, and voilà, a home for the pixie was made.

Hmm, maybe you don't grasp just how exciting this was, but I was surprised and thrilled that the natural clay color matched the natural wood. (Both clay and wood are now sealed for protection, but if you really wanted to, you could mess this up by dropping it in a bucket of paint or whatever mischief you get up to in your home. Hey, that gives me an idea...)
