I have made several of these footed bowls and each one is different, made completely by hand without using molds. As someone who loves word play, it amuses me to call them footed bowls because bowls that are thrown on the wheel usually have a small ring on the bottom to hold the bowl steady. That ring is called a foot. A footed bowl in my world means a bowl with feet.
This bowl has a radiating pattern of incisions that remind me of feathers. If feathers were clay, glossy, and not on a bird.
The bowl is waterproofed and is safe to use with water--but I don't recommend it. Why not? Because the maker of the sealer may have been overly optimistic, or your water supply has a high mineral content, and just because I wouldn't want something to happen to your bowl!
