Fooling around with partial faces brought me to this half face. When I put it in a box and topped it with another piece I had made, it was time to epoxy things together.
Bits and pieces hang out sometimes until I know I want to make permanent attachments, and this was one of those times. The "sunglasses" are made of wood scraps from a staircase in a house I had built years ago. As a former quilt maker, I used the scraps to make a small wooden quilt. It got a second life with the green man underneath. The box, a labor of love, was made from old fruit crates as a wedding decoration by the father of the bride.
The hidden and revealed aspect of the piece is pleasing to me, as well as the extravagance of the sunglasses. Designer sunglasses, don't you know. This piece hangs on the wall.
