I made this piece in a class with a live model. The class I was in often changed models, but there were two who stood out to me for the difference between them. One was a 40ish Italian woman who was completely comfortable in her skin. The other was in her early 20s and she held herself in a way that seemed a bit shy to me.
The teacher would set up each pose, experimenting until she was happy, adding padding or pillows for models to lean on. Can you tell which model was used for this piece? Her knees that pulled towards each other is the giveaway.
The class had so many people in it that we couldn't move around the model; the model had to be on a rotating stand that was turned a quarter-turn every fifteen minutes. When the model stand turned and her face reappeared, I always got a jolt from her beautiful blue-green eyes, pale skin, and brown hair with red and gold tones. Too bad she's shown here in stark white!
