What does fruit think about? I think these pears are coolly contemplating their fate: an open mouth. Was this the kind of question the Dutch were asking when they began painting the bounty of their tables in the early 17th century? Before that time, most people did not have the money to commission or buy art; the only entity rich enough to acquire art was the church. Thus the preponderance of religious art before the still life and the portrait came into vogue thanks to the rise of a new middle class of merchants. And that concludes our bite-sized art history lesson from the western viewpoint.
There's a glow along the upper edge of the canvas that is not part of the painting; it's from the lighting. I painted on a canvas board, which should be fine over time as it's not a large painting. (14x11 inches), but this substrate is the reason for the low pricing.
